“I am very thankful with God for” Attorney Trip Collins. He “was very helpful” to me and my family at a time “when I was totally confused and in need of someone.” He “seem[s to] love [his] job and [is] more into helping than into charging.”

“I was fortunate enough to have Trip Collins as my lawyer. I was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of cocaine and driving an unregistered vehicle. My case was taken all the way to jury trial. Trip Collins is an absolute wizard in the courtroom. He helped me pick a winning jury. He said everything I wanted to say to the jury and more, putting it better than I ever could have. He pursued a winning defense and got me a full acquittal on the drug charges. If you find yourself in the unfortunate position of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, you do not want to go to court without Trip Collins protecting your rights.”

Attorney Trip Collins “did an excellent job getting [the] situation resolved in a quick and timely manner. [He] worked hard to make sure the resolution was fair and agreeable to everyone involved. I was very impressed with [his] performance in court … [and] I appreciate the positive things [he] said to the judge on my behalf …. I felt that my legal future was in very good hands.”

“I was very pleased [with the outcome] in my case. [Attorney Trip Collins is] one of the hardest working lawyers I’ve had.”

Attorney Trip Collins “[is] a great attorney.” I was “very satisfied” with the job that he did.

Trip Collins is, "[b]y far … one of the best attorneys I've ever had to represent me. I see a dedication in [him] where [he] really fight[s] a case due to somebody else's innocence. I'm very pleased with what [he did]. Everything went great, and [he] really listened to everything I had to say concerning my case."

Attorney Trip Collins was “very thorough with my case [and] helpful with making sure I understood my rights. [He] know[s his] job[, and] … if I was to have a [more serious] charge, … I would choose[him].”

Featured Case Results

Recorder’s Court, Gwinnett County, Georgia (closed June 17th, 2008): the defendant and a friend of the defendant were found by police sitting in a parked vehicle with a freshly rolled marijuana cigarette, and the defendant was prosecuted for marijuana possession. Attorney Trip Collins represented the defendant and persuaded the prosecutor to dismiss the case against the defendant.

Superior Court, Gwinnett County, Georgia (closed June 12th, 2008): the defendant was arrested after the police found him driving an unregistered vehicle, searched the car, and discovered cocaine and marijuana. Attorney Trip Collins represented the defendant, including at the jury trial of the case. The defendant stipulated to driving an unregistered vehicle, and, after less than 2 hours of deliberation, the jury found him not guilty on each of the drug charges.

Juvenile Court, Gwinnett County, Georgia (closed June 20th, 2008): the defendant was arrested after the police, responding almost immediately to the scene of an armed robbery, chased the defendant into the woods and, with the help of a canine unit, located and secured the defendant. The defendant ultimately confessed to police that he and an at-large accomplice had tried to rob a gas station and, using a gun, had then robbed a person walking through the parking lot of the gas station. Although the defendant, who was within a year of the defendant’s 17th birthday, was originally arrested and prosecuted as an adult (for which the mandatory minimum penalty for an armed robbery conviction is 10 years in prison), the defendant’s family hired Attorney Trip Collins, and the prosecution was diverted to the juvenile court, where Attorney Trip Collins worked out a deal requiring the defendant to serve no more than 60 days in RYDC, followed by probation.

Superior Court, Gwinnett County, Georgia (closed July 2nd, 2008): the defendant was found by police driving the victim’s car after that car had been taken from the victim at gunpoint in a brutal after-dark attack. Shortly thereafter, the victim picked the defendant’s face out of a photo lineup as that of her attacker. The defendant was indicted on several felony counts, including car-jacking, armed robbery, kidnapping with bodily injury, aggravated battery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and faced the possibility of back-to-back life sentences plus seventy years. Attorney Trip Collins represented the defendant, including at the jury trial of the case, secured a mis-trial for the defendant, and filed a motion to prevent a re-trial. Just before the hearing on that motion, the assistant district attorney responsible for the case was persuaded to lower the confinement portion of the State’s plea offer to 15 years, down from the State’s original plea offer of life plus 20 years. The defendant accepted the plea offer, and the judge imposed the sentence as negotiated; the defendant should be eligible for parole after serving 10 years.

Magistrate Court, Gwinnett County, Georgia (closed April 16th, 2008): the defendant was found by police driving a car that had been reported stolen from Tennessee the day before. The police also determined that the defendant, who was on probation in Tennessee, was wanted for violation of probation and failure to appear for court in Jackson County, Georgia. The defendant was arrested and held for theft by receiving a stolen motor vehicle. The Law Office of Trip Collins, LLC represented the defendant at the preliminary hearing and persuaded the magistrate to dismiss the case.

Magistrate Court, Gwinnett County, Georgia (closed April 15th, 2008): the defendant was accused of distributing obscene material by transmitting a digital image of an erect penis to the victim's cell phone. The Law Office of Trip Collins, LLC represented the defendant and persuaded the magistrate to set bail that the defendant was able to make. The State ultimately dropped the case.

Superior Court, Gwinnett County, Georgia (closed March 24th, 2008): the defendant was believed by the State to have been involved in a nationwide fraudulent-returns scheme by which he bilked a particular department store chain out of tens of thousands of dollars. He was accused of and prosecuted for felony theft by taking. The Law Office of Trip Collins, LLC represented the defendant, whose history included a prior felony theft conviction, and worked out a deal whereby the defendant received a sentence of 5 years on probation, conditioned upon payment of less than $2,500 restitution and performance of some community service.

Superior Court, Gwinnett County, Georgia (closed March 20th, 2008): the defendant was accused of aggravated assault by slashing the victim’s chest and abdomen with a razor, causing a significant gash across the victim’s torso. The Law Office of Trip Collins, LLC represented the defendant, who was indicted and scheduled for trial. The State dropped the case.

Superior Court, Gwinnett County, Georgia (closed March 28th, 2008): the defendant was arrested for and accused of felony aggravated assault and misdemeanor obstruction of a law enforcement officer after attacking the victim with a beer bottle and then running from the police. The Law Office of Trip Collins, LLC represented the defendant and negotiated a deal whereby the defendant pled no contest to a pair of misdemeanors, including simple assault, and was given a 12 month sentence to be served on probation.

Magistrate Court, Gwinnett County, Georgia (closed March 26th, 2008): the defendant was arrested and prosecuted for obstruction of a law enforcement officer. The Law Office of Trip Collins, LLC represented the defendant, and the State dropped the case.

Superior Court, Barrow County, Georgia, disposed February 8th, 2007: according to the police, the defendant attacked the victim and left the scene in her car. At the time, the defendant was on parole and also was out on bail from a previous aggravated assault against the same victim. Notwithstanding the defendant’s criminal history, including convictions for multiple felonies, including aggravated assault, the District Attorney’s office ultimately dropped the case.

Magistrate Court, Gwinnett County, Georgia: the defendant was accused of aggravated assault by bashing the victim in the head with a large rock, causing a significant gash near his eye.
